Doctoral program
The objectives of the Department of Geography are to foster awareness of the field of geography, and to add to the body of geographic knowledge and methodology through teaching and research.The Department also endeavours to prepare specialized teachers and researchers to meet the demands of the geographic profession and of various public, private and community agencies.
For graduate studies, the Department offers three fields of research: polar and mountain environments, cities, cultures and social change, and environmental change, risk and adaptation.
The Department of Geography is a participating unit in the collaborative program in Canadian studies at the PhD level. This program has been established for students wishing to enrich their training by including an interdisciplinary component in Canadian studies.
